Artist Statement
In my recent body of work, I delve into the intricate dance between nature and abstraction, consciousness and unconsciousness, using colored pencils to bring to life compositions that are both delicate and profound. My process begins during walks in nature, where I capture the subtle interplay of light, parts of plants, their tissues, structures, texture, and form through photography. These moments of natural beauty and their uncontrolled environment serve as the foundation for my abstract drawings, where I deconstruct and reorganize the parts and explore the tension between gestural lines, shapes, and layers of texture.
Each drawing is an exploration of balance and harmony, themes that resonate deeply with me in the face of life's unpredictability. Through the layering of these elements, I aim to find harmony within complexity, inviting the viewer to engage with the intricate balance that exists within each piece. My work speaks to the complexities inherent in the uncertainties of our environment, offering a reflection on the fragile balances that shape our existence. – Gizem
